Contains some graphic language so if there are kids - please don't listen.

It addresses the crap gone horribly wrong with PC and the word, dare I say - "Christmas".

It's funny how things happen...Sunday at church (Gasp! Sent goes to church????) the priest, during his sermon, said that this years Wal-Mart greeters were ordered to just say Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas. Now, as a stable minded Christian this doesn't really preterb me if they say Happy Holidays. What gets my gonads is the fact that Wal-Mart ORDERED them to say this. I mean, I have had a lot of Jewish friends back home and they never EVER got offended if I said Merry Christmas to them. They'd turn around and say Happy Hannukah(sp?) back to me. No worries, no bruised ego's, none of that. Probably because we RESPECTED each others choice of religion and not hold it up as a banner of righteousness some religions do.

Cyrus is not allowed to post on this thread....

  6. My Mantra was always "Ho-Ho-Ho and all that [insert term here depending upon my mood.]*"

Some examples = Jazz. Cr@p, Sh!t, Hootenanny (you get the message) ;)

Over the years I've done a little research and have engaged in discussions with Theology Majors & Theology Instructors. I have come to learn many things, from The Great Schizm (3 Popes!), to how Christian's used pagan holidays (Winter Solstice = Xmas) and canonized (making Saints) the deities of other beliefs (St. Bridget) for converting of other religions.

And ultametly, the best summation of The Bible came from a comedy show called “Dharma & Greg”
Dharma: “Um…Be nice to people and don’t take God’s name in vain.”
    Greg: “That’s it? Really.”
Dharma: “That’s the gist of it, yes.”

I avoid pushing a particular belief on my kids (although I admit I’m pretty biased (and vocal) regarding the idiots on the road, my son said a little while ago as I was driving “Dad, that driver is a Jerk.” Uh-oh I said to myself…~!)
    …but I digress…
So, I want my kids to be able to make their own informed decision. The message that is most important in the minds of my wife and I that we are giving to our children is –
It is more fun, and more important to give presents than receive them.*

I just don't care either way...but things do get out of hand.

    What bothers me is this:

Businesses used to have christmas sales, and christmas this, and christmas that. A small vocal minority of religious folk got mad and boycoted and pressured business to get the christ out of the consumeristic holiday. They thought that it was minimizing the holiday by making christ stand for consumerism.

Now that the businesses pretty much have done just what they asked...they are pissed becuase christ is no loger a factor in the advertising and the sales...so we are 'forgeting' what the holiday is about.

    ugh.

  9. lol... Love it; So the institution that is telling you to be tolerant - isn't being tolerant.

I just don't get it. Why can't each kid do his/her own thing (if anything!) and the school just stay the @#$@#$# out of the way?

Because the "establishment" believes that a 12 or 13 year old child cannot make their own decisions. Remember, we're still spoon feeding them, coddleing them and changing their diapers til they are 18.

  11. up here some fella put up a creepy christmas thing...bloody santa holding dolls heads...bloody dolls hanging from his tree outside...creeping some kids out...making them cry and shit...but can't do a thing about it..its his civil liberties or whatnot...whatever...but ill bet if someone put a nativity scene outside thier house it would be shunned by the community and/or vandalized by people who don't want to see that kind of stuff...oh the irony...

  12. Something could be done if you are willing to get caught and do the jail time. ;)

The government can't do anything, if he is renting his land lord might be able to do something.

Christmas has been whored out on street corner window displays to sell merchandise for so many years now it seems to me this should come as a welcome relief to those who celebrate it for what it truely is. "Merry Christmas" is uttered robotically from the lips of passers by who use it as greeting like "hello". It should be something said from the heart and paint that was ordered to be put on a store window owned by a major corporation is not from the heart. If you truely believe (and I dont' mean in Santa Clause) and you truely want the holiday to be Holy, then embrace the gift you are receiving now. This is the opportunity to utter the words aloud or to write the words down not because you are expected to, but because you mean them. This is the chance to have the message heard loud and clear when it is spoken instead of having it cluttered with advertising campaigns.

Sorry, I'm a bit irritated that my e-mail is clogged up lately with people complaining that advertisers aren't using "Merry Christmas" in their ad campaigns anymore...Idiots.

    PS...what Oed said. <3

I believe the reason why the songs that have reference to religion are not in public schools is due to the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. A state funded school forcing chorus kids to sing about a religion they may not believe in could be considered a violation of this clause. For this reason, most public schools will try to avoid the topic of religion as much as possible.

If you wish to listen to such music you can easily do so at your church, or even purchase albums<o =""></o>

  17. I find myself wishing seasons greetings and that's about all that would be 'pc' acceptable. I tried Happy Holidays, but was shot down cuz Holiday is derived from Holy Day and the mentioned religions above wouldn't havea problem, but aethists would...

I'm waiting for when I can complain to HR if someone uses my name in the wrong tone...when will all this pc crap get to that point? Please let it be soon so that I can report 99.99% of the company!!!!!!!

    ARGGHHHH!!!!!!

  18. I'm an Aethist, and I really don't give a monkey scrotum what people tell me around these times. Maybe it's just that I don't believe in it, and that Christmas now is just 90% Commercial. Not many really know what it means, or even teach it to their Children. The way I see it, children associate Christmas with free crap, and lots of it. They don't care why they get it, but some "Fat Guy" brought it because they were "Good". I Quoted "Good" because I'm quite sure you and I have not met the same children in our travels, but nonetheless their parents give them what they want to make it through another day with the absence of kicking and screaming only to be met with a spoiled brat in the end of it all.
Why am I an Aethist? Well, I don't get in too deep with people who don't have the time required to debate everything involved in understanding me and my twisted psychosis, however, I can say the easiest way to put my outlook on life follows no "Religion" at all. Basically, The Matrix makes more sense to me, than any other type of organized Religeous Beliefs. If you remember the quote, "I don't like the idea that i'm not in control of my life"; then you can understand how i feel about most things in the world. I'm not entirely sure why all this random jumbo was posted right here just now, but when I get going, my brain doesn't shut off until I've hit a block.

I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my . . . self.

It's never offensive to state your position on things as long as it is done with taste and tact, which you have done here.

But some of us may disagree. ;)
