Do you have diffrent log in ID's or do you just turn the comp on?

 

You could always make a sub folder and switch it to hidden after you walk away from the computer but that is a hassle.

 

If you are running 2000/Xp it is a breeze, but will require seperate logins.

If you are, let me know and I can help you set the permissions so that only you have access to it.

But if you are on 9X you are pretty much out of luck.

Password protect you computer bios, then when you are not around turn off your computer. That way when she tries to turn it on, she won't be able to boot it up, unless you tell her the password or she knows which jumper to filp on your mobo to reset the bios password

A little extreme, but i found it very effective in preventing pain in the ass house mates from fucking up my computer.

 

I got a bete version of Windows Mellinum, and I installed it on my room mates computer to let him beta test it. I told him he was getting a super secret copy before anyone else.

Then I convinced him that it had to be on his comp instead of mine becuase I was running "Mission Critical" apps and could not take a chance on the operating system not working right. Which I assured him was me just being paranoid and that everything would be fine.

Boy did that really jack up his comp. The whole time I spent putting Win98 back on it I kept saying "Man you really messed it up this time, what the hell did you do" and he swore that all he did was turn it on.

Sometimes living with the computer Illiterate is fun.

 

I think the best one I ever did was to my sister.

I took a screen shot of her desktop and the 1000's of short cuts that shehad on it, and then set the screen shot as the wallpaper, and set it to view as a web page. Next I set it to "Hide all desktop Icons when my desk top is viewed as a web page"

So everything looked like normal except the Icons wern't real. They were just part of the wall paper. She clicked for about 30 min on diffrent ones trying to figure out why nothing worked anymore until she heard me laughing and made me fix it

 

So oh master H4x0r ... what's this better piece of software?


And I realize that foolproof is only proof against Fools, BUT .. you think Quat's sister is smart enuff to H4x0r it?

If you look carefully at the mobo it actually tells you which of the jumpers to switch to reset the password.
