So what do you want from SC?

Discussion in 'Star Citizen Public Discussion' started by NuclearMessiah, 14 Oct 2013.

  1. If you have ever taken the time to check out the offical RSI forums you can see that a lot of future players have some pretty far strecthcing hopes for the game.

So it got me thinking, what do the Dragon wolves hope for?

Me personally :) I have simple request, just fininsh the game and make it at least more entertaining and fun the EvE and it is a win in my book lol.

Our most successful division I was a part of was SWTOR. Because we had a clearly defined goal to make it a success; clear Soa and Karagga's Palace as a guild. I feel that we also need a type of end-game here as well to keep our division going. But I'm not sure what that can be on such an open ended game like Star Citizen. It could be as simple as finding a small pocket of space where we find one of the 'lost ships', bring it back to life and cruise the galaxy in it. That's far reaching and probably outside our scope. With a universe as vast as Star Citizen if love to hear what you think our own end-game should look like.

  3. I don't know what the options are.

Can we make a dyson sphere or blow up suns?

  4. I mean finding a capital ship or claiming a station of our own would be nice, but will require muscle, but even if we made a great business of being the 1st to explore new systems or finding a capital ship hulk and selling it coords off for massive profit would be fun :) I know these IR guys would pay top dollar for a carrier lol.

  5. There are definitely some good posts on the forums, especially the ones that have collected details from devs like the exploring faq.

I want a game that allows us to set goals but makes it fun to accomplish those goals and not feel like a 2nd job such as EvE. I am hoping this is a game that even after a year of playing it strong I still look forward to logging in and trying something new and not just grinding dailies.

  6. I am very gratful that even though I only subbed for one month for SC, I get to retain my subscriber status and have access to the more civilized forum there.

Exactly Daleon. The last thing I want to do is do "Kessel Runs" all day long.

  8. Large fleets have the advantage of superior numbers. I'd also like some kind of disadvantage added to huge fleets which gives smaller fleets a purpose.

  9. Though I won't dispute the fact we're probably unlikely to ever bring home an alien supercarrier "for the benefit of all mankind", I would like to see gameplay where fully charting a region of the world actually earns some measure of recognition among everone else in the community. Instead in every previous MMO I've played; as soon as your character found a new location, all you got was a specific XP reward.

If something really hidden and exciting comes from it, it becomes all the more fun, but I don't want it to be another MMO where we troll around and discovery doesn't mean s*** in the grand scheme.

  10. From what I understand the newly charted systems get named after you if you find it :)

As for big fleets, the large fleet engagements are limited to 100-200 ships, so no super super fleets.

  11. Also understand that player to player interaction in the game is set to be much less frequent then lets say EvE.

Systems are huge taking days to fully explore, and there is a pvp slider I hear about which will determine the chances you run into other players more often.

Don't get to hung up on PvP, its only a portion of the game and griefing will not be as tolerated in SC as EvE.

  12. I'm not talking just about fleet battles. I'm talking about economy, resources and market share.

Take all of the systems. imprison the aliens in work camps and weapon's barges. Feast on their food, use their resources. Then wait with weapons of mass destruction on the next alien scum to appear. ;)

  14. This and your follow on post are good, if you don't mind, since I am subscriber I can sumbit questions tot he devs for wingmans hanger, and I would also just submit it to the ask devs forum as well.

So I'm going to throw this out there. What is going to be YOUR driving force within Star Citizen?

Be the BAMFP (Bad Ass MFer Pilot) of Star Citizen?
    Explore strange new worlds?
Seek out new life and new civilizations?
    Make some money?

I want to make money. How does one do that? Explore, mine, salvage, transport cargo, etc. I think that doing KOS missions will be problematic and may cost more than what they're going to be worth. Bounty Hunting might be a good diversion, but I think I really want to factor in the Corporate side of the game.

So I'm going to propose that we advertise ourselves as "Opportunists". I believe that if we pigeon hole ourselves as a "PMC" or "Corporation" that we may not see those people who want to help out with those whose viewpoints don't agree with ours.

Organizationally we would have a corporate side that are making contacts within systems, knowing where to transport raw materials to factories, and keeping as many of us up and flying. We have a PMC side that would provide cover for us during operations and that can also go out and get those bounties in-system. They're also our 'muscle' if things get hot. A repair facility that can help other ships in whatever sector we plant down in get fixed, for a price. We even have an advertizing bureau whose only job is to get our name out there as the premier transportation and reclamation corporation in whatever sector we're in. We would also offer up a Training and Education division for new players.

My goal with this would be to carve out a niche in whatever sector/quadrant/grid we are in, get factories and repair facilities up and running and available for use by good and decent players. Once we secure our area of space, we look at selling our hard work for serious profit and use it to bankroll another sector of space. Think of it as Galactic Flippers.

  17. I like it

  18. Pretty much how I would have structured the company. Our PMC can also be hired by other parties for our services, rather than just being dedicated to transport and mining escort, and as a small strike squadron.

  19. I like "opportunists", it's accurate, but I think the word itself can have some negative connotations associated with it that make it sound a bit "piratey".

I definitely agree with the sentiment behind it. We seize opportunity as and where we see it.

Opportunity could be part of our brand. Much like Nike's "Just Do It". We give you an opportunity. Opportunity creates growth.
