  1. some WC ramblins'

here i sit, after a very long week of work and school (yes, WC is attempting tertiary education) im having a few drinks and listening to some old songs. some songs have more of a lasting impact than others. granted, i grew up when mtv first came out and the visual aspect came later. k, so im old, like :grampi:
altho, ive noticed this in times gone past(relevance of sound and memory), just never really wrote about it. whenever i listen to a particular song, its like an audio snapshot of my life, i think of where i first heard the song, if i dont have that memory, i find another association of it. and thats the key i think, the association of sound and memory.

<me steps back and sees what i just blabbered>

    k, cya tomorrow.....mebbe

We all remember the first song we slow danced with a girl/guy, we all remember what music was playing in the backround when we got our groove thang on the first time, but how many remember the first song they played in their very first automobile?

Mine: Girls, Girls, Girls: Motley Crue
Followed by: Talk Dirty to me: Poison
    Then: Slumlord (doesn't Jam): DRI

  4. There is always a time when you can be driving and hear a song that opens up a page to your past. It is what reminds you of the special memories in life. I agree on what has been said about the song that you remember when you first danced with a girl...or maybe a special song that you and a very special significant person in your life shared together. Songs like that is what reminds us what is truly important to us...

  5. WC rambled -
    Well said my friend~!
I still go though my family pictures, especially those of my son, because I know that those are tiny pieces of time.
I used to absorb the ambience and music as well.

...listening to music with a your favorite elixir, lights off...only the light of the stereo filling the dining room of your apartment...sitting on the living room couch...

    Sad? No, not at all.

    Peaceful.
You've made it. Know to attenuate the moment - keenly aware of your surroundings, and sometimes you can feel yourself floating, ahhh...but for a moment - Disconnected?
But it was then that I started to write poetry. It must have been around 1986.

Oh well, before I get maudlin and start to recite E. A. Poe, might I hazard a guess your Ry Cooder selection you referred to is from the Crossroads soundtrack? Excellent choice~!

Well... I've actually polished off a bottle of red wine tonight anyway (no beer).
I believe it is time for me to take these old bones into the bedroom and put in a DVD.

G'nite and thanx for sharing WC.
