Star Wars: Empire at War is an RTS being made by the people that used to work at WestWood studios (they made the Command & Conquer games) , before it was bought out by the evil EA empire. The game takes place between episode III and episode IV. What makes this RTS interesting is that battles can take place both on the ground and in space at the same time. Units can be sent between these two different areas as well.If you have control of the orbit of a planet, but are still fighting on the ground, you can send the units from space down to the surface. It also seems that the game will take place between multiple planets, which gives the game a more tactical aspect as well. The old method of building up one massive force and throwing it against another huge army of enemy units will not work anymore because you are fighting for more than just one campaign.

  2. This sounds a lot like the system used in the Earth 2160. Could Petroglyph being looking to do the same thing?

If that is the case, I like it already.

  3. Apparently the musical score will be be comprised of tracks by both John Williams and Frank Klepacki.

  6. Definately peaked my interest.
If they're using the same engine as C&C Generals it ought to be a good one. The same engine was put in play for Battle For Middle Earth and that game is just downright stellar.

  7. Thankfully I dont think they are using the sage engine (Generals). For the reason that it had horrendous netcode, I think they may have developed their own engine.

That is correct (and I concur)
