Tea

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by 'cide, 2 Aug 2002.

  1. Green, Black White, or what?

Imported from China, India, Sri Lanka or what?

Instant or manually brewed in a tea pot?

  2. Full Otto

    Full Otto Chain Gun Madman

I like all three, from China mixed with spit in a flat bowl. Swirled around with a 4 inch fingernail then the meaning of my dreams are revealed!

Actually, used to love the tea that my grandma used to make then sit on her front porch in the summer. After sitting there for a long time in a glass (we called it a tea jug, but it was probably originally a moonshine glass container) then she would put it in the fridge for our drinking pleasure in the evening.

Man, I want to go back and live on the farm...

  3. Manitou

    Manitou Old War Horse DragonWolf

    Deep South Sweet Tea,

    or,

    Lezzo hot Turkish Tea...

    Both good stuff.

  4. I like regular iced tea, no sweetening, and no lemon
    Fling :D

  5. Earl Grey - Hot. er... no no that's Picards. :p

Sun Tea (when it ever gets hot enough up here to make it) :D

  6. Black or Green tea, i honestly dont know enough about import locations to know. No sweetening for most, if i do i use honey. I love iced tea, no sweetening or lemon (lemon overwhelms the flavor).

  7. tea?...what is this tea you speak of...you drink it?...you mean there is more than coffee and vanilla coke?

  8. Ahh. Switched from coffee to tea & the difference is amazing. Did quite a bit of research and not even to mention the health benefits of drinking tea (which there are tons).. Generally drinking tea is a good stimulant, without the jitteryness of coffee or the negative mental side effects. Plus tea is very tasty IMHO.

Went for the black tea, as it has more caffiene in it than green tea or white tea or instant tea. Of course green tea is healthier and has more benefits but I can use the extra kick during the day that black tea brings. :) Tried iced tea before, never liked it. Right now I'm just using the tea bags in boiling cup method. I realize this is not how the 'tea purists' would make the best cup of tea.

If anyone has any brewing suggestions if I ever want to switch to tea pot w/tea leaves on the stove? Or what..

I like hot green tea straight up.

I drink it instead of coffee sometimes.

  10. Cool do you use tea bags (instant) or do you go through the whole tea leaves/tea pot situation?

  11. hmmm...my nieghbor just gav me a bunch of tea..i might just try some....

  12. I like mine in a cup with a tiny bit of milk and a reasonable amount of sugar but the honey idea ^ sounded pretty cool too. I would try it but I don't have any honey. :(

I've used tea bags before. currently I use loose leaf tea and I want to buy powdered green tea, which is the highest quality you can find, oddly enough. Japanese use powdered green tea in their formal tea ceremonies and it's also what is served in finer japanese restaurants.

Sometimes I just throw the leaves in the pot. They're coarsely chopped so it's not as hard to keep from accidentally swallowing them like it would be for finely cut tea.

Sometimes I put the loose leaves in a tea ball, which is a ball made of wire mesh with a hinged opening.

I'm looking for the tea we used to get when I lived in Japan. It's green and curled up into small balls, crunchy as though freeze dried. So far no luck.
