  1. okay..here we go...my computer is getting twitchy...

    problems/symptons
stutters--when im playing games..listening to music...even in posting this now

funny sounds--clicks...not loud just little cheeeeks...and recently cute little beeps...not the annoying *DANGER DANGER GONNA BLOW* beeps that happen when some hardware isn't in correctly...or processor beeps...(ha...i know what THAT sounds like) the cute ones aren't often at all really..i have only hear two actually...the clicks i hear happen mostly in WoW but have heard them on other rare occasions

WoW--now this could all be related to the issues that they are having or just a combination of both..my system and their issues...my computer will lock up when im on the bird...or loading a new screen...now there is a loud click that happens right before it...i had thought it was my previous hd...i changed that out and am on a new hd with a fresh install of win xp (we'll get to those problems along down about page two) i have yet to experience the lockup in anything else that im doing...

TS--says i can't connect...and yes i know there is a very friendly guide here...and i used it...really...i may have just forgotten my pw...tried setting it up all fresh..then tried to get it going as being registered already from before...that is really the least of my worries however..i seem to think its some goofy firewall thing in xp that i need to deal with or rework

ISO--i have one someone sent me...its a virus program and i really like it and i trust my brother so don't go on about what is better and blah blah blah...because you will follow it up with all it does and i won't understand a word of it and my brother knows what i need and don't need as far as security... :) anywho...im not sure how to go about changing it or making it work so much...do i have to burn it as a different file type or something then go from there? i use nero...and the above applies to my choice of burning software...

processor is an AMD 939 and i have 1 gig of ram...i know not real high end by todays standards but its all i have..heh...i have no idea what my vid card is...sent might remember he built this for me...god...over a year ago i guess...

aaaanyway...any help or suggestions that anyone might have would be greatly appreciated...and please...remember....all that fancy computer talk and numbers...my eyes just glaze over and and i slip into a semi-consious state and unresponsive...so be simple for me please :)

    thanks all...

  2. I'll poke at the easiest:

ISO: Nero should have an option called Burn Image, that's what an ISO is, should be able to burn it to a cd that way, if not, there are other ways to make it work that I can post.

  3. thanks dy...

I believe the video card is a 9800pro. When you get back on go to your >RUN< menu after you press the >START< button. Then type in DXDIAG in the little box. Click the >DISPLAY< tab and it should show you what you've got.

  5. ohhhh...that is a neat little trick sent..thanks....soooo...got the virus thing going...when i installed it it gave me the option to disable and whatnot the windows firewall and crap...and i have been able to log onto wow...and actually do things....

still get the stutters...but the clicking seems to have stopped if only less frequent...

  6. If you are hearing clicking noises from your PC, this could be the heads on your hard drive going bad. I'm a hardware tech and I've run across a ton of IBM Deskstar drives that are especially prone to failure in this manner.

  7. yeah sulf..thats what i was told..then changed the hd to a new one...and i still hear them...not as much...nor as loud... but i do still hear it occasionally...

  8. The only other thing I can think of would one of 2 things then...either you have a CD drive going bad that is having a similar problem has the HD with things getting stuck....or you have a fan trying to go out on you.

Of course the other thing could be (if you used just a drive you had laying around) that the HD you put in is bad as well.

It's been awhile since I was deep into the hardware repair side of the fence but that is what sounds like could be happening.
