The Disappointment in CDL

I'm sorry that you are unhappy with playing on CDL server. I am the one who changed the map. I changed the map from Dust to Dust to Boss(x). This isn't abuse of admin, it's actually normal and expected behavior for any server admin. The fact of the matter is, we had already lost about 1/2 of our players who had dropped off of the server when they found out what map had loaded. Competitive players don't stick around and play Dust to Dust. I was trying to keep more people from leaving than those who already had.

If you go to any top base++ server, the map dust to dust isn't even in the rotation. The only reason the map came up tonight is because we haven't yet had a chance to remove it from the map rotation list. Hopefully, it will be removed completely and the only maps that do come up are those maps in the base++ 7 man ladder. Dust to Dust isn't in any league map rotation. There is no reason for anyone other than new players to T2 to stay and play it. If this were a pub server for "just anyone" I could understand, but it's not.

The server has been reserved for a CDL base++ 7 man team. On a league. With specific maps we need to play. As such, we would like to try and focus on playing only the 7 man base++ maps. Dust to Dust unfortunately isn't one of them. The map was changed to a map that is on the ladder.

The vote wasn't passing to change the map earlier because a majority of the people on the server weren't voting (yes or no, either way). From all the votes made there were at least 75% of the votes voting yes. I would have to say that is a clear majority. It's too bad there is a bug in T2 voting where ppl who don't vote automatically get a "no" vote entered for them. Most of them actually don't vote because they don't care. I had to go with the votes tallied that showed a clear majority of yes votes to get rid of Dust to Dust.

BTW: I didn't hear any CDL player using profanity or cussing on the server. These were all random players who logged in to our server who were unhappy about Dust 2 Dust being loaded. While they were cussing, I don't think we can do anything about that.

Actually, i am afraid i had to admit to having cursed at one point on Firestorm when our base got raped. Base raping after repeatedly telling people that we dont rape until 10v10 (which is standard) really frustrates me. I apologize, and will attempt to keep this in mind in the future. Oh, and do try to keep in mind that Dust to Dust has no inventories. Since it is our server (it is not advertised as a public server) we can change it if we like, however if it is a normal map you will never see us do this. Dust to Dust however gives NO oppourtunity for skill building, so it was changed.

 

Again, sorry eMaGyN about changing the map. I am told that they are working on some kind of map rotation list. So the maps we don't want to play won't come up at all. It should prevent players from loading into a map, and then having it changed on them.

PS: I personally like Dust to Dust. But when you look at it's overall value on the ladders, it has none. That's why so many people wanted it changed.

Last I remember, Dust to Dust was on the 7 man ++ ladder, or it's on one of the ladders.. I'm not sure... But it's hard to verify that now with TWL kicking the proverbial bit-bucket.

As far as voting, there are people who are too lazy, but there are also people that realize their default vote is no, so it isn't entirely necessary for them to vote if they want to vote that way.

As for the guys that were cussing on the server... if it was CDL .. Again .. we apologize. If it wasn't, then we can not control them, as we do not have a "No-Cussing" rule in place... -yet-...


This server is brand new, and there are still kinks that need to be worked out before it can be running completely smooth.

 

Let me add my thoughts on this matter even though I was not present for this.

Sky hit it the best in this whole topic. Please contact us by email so we may handle this situation in a little less public spot! I know not everyone will act as they should, and for that I apologize for the bad experience. We try to provide the best gaming ecperience with our warriors as possible, and we have always tried for the "family atmosphere" playing style.

Raptormax had mentioned the "10vs10" no rape rule. To be honest, since the CDL is focusing on a 7vs7 team now, that really is not a player in this server. There will be base raping allowed at all levels of players.

Also, h0micide mentioned that we are still tweeking the server. That too is correct. We still have some things to get sorted out!

Where is the new server located? What connection is it on? Is it actually a new server, or is this another big red server? What mods are you running/going to run on it? Im always interested in servers
