Also at E3 they announced that Sega is now involved with the production of the game.

From the preview that I read (above) it sounds like the game will be much more different than your "normal" MMO. Unlike a lot of other MMOs, the matrix online seems to have a strong story. The missions won't be "kill X amount of Y enemies because we feel like it." The story/plot also progresses as you do missions. One of the coolest sounding things is how the game "remembers" what missions you did. So if you saved Billy the npc in a mission, he might appear in later missions and end up saving your digital ass.

Another cool feature is the battle system. The way you fight isn't just highlight enemy then press attack. Instead it is a "card" like system which will force the player to be more active. PvP will be consensual. there will also be clan vs. clan, in which your faction will be able to fight other factions.

They are still accepting Beta sign ups, so go and sign up if you haven't already. Hopefully there will be some lucky CDLers (not me I never get into betas until 2 days before release) to check out the game for us.

True, but SWG was developed by SOE, which has yet to impress me in their development department. I am still skeptic, as I always am with MMOs, however; Sega isn't SOE so I have some hope for the game.

Yep, sega is just co-publishing it, not developing.

Instead it is being developed by Monolith, (the same company that made the No one lives forever series) along with Warner Brothers.

The action looks quite remarkable for an MMORPG I hope the game is as good as it looks.
