The passing of a great leader.

  1. Ronald Reagan was a great President. He brought this country out of one the worst times since the great depression. The inflation rate in this country was 13%, unemployment was 14 to 15 % and interest rates were in the low 20% range. The Iran hostage crisis and the failed rescue attempt had shown what cutting of the military does. The US was at a low. We needed somebody to say it’ll be all right. I’ll fight for you. I’ll show what can happen and what could be done. Ronald Reagan did that. May he rest in peace.

    Agreed.

He was arguably the greatest President of the modern era. I voted for him in his run for the second term.

He was a personal hero for me.

Agreed as well. Our newcasts here described him as the President who put the pride back into being American.

  5. In Colin Powell's autobiography, when he spoke of Reagan, you could tell that Reagan honestly believed in America. He belived that we and the Russians could work out a peaceful situation in disarmament.

Reagan was a charismatic individual, and he carried a positive attitude no matter the situation.

I wasn't old enough to remember him as far as who he was, or why he talked on the TV all the time, but anytime I did see him on TV, he made me think of my grandpa. Anyone who could make me think that must have been someone good. That's the only reason I had to say I liked this person I didn't know, no matter what anyone around me said.

I got kept an eye on CNN for most of the day, watching what people were saying about him. About all I got out of it was the wish that more of our leaders would be like him. He believed America was infectious, and represented all that was good. Well, I guess that's 2 reasons I liked him. ;)

In the end, it sounds like he had a very happy life. Who can ask for more in the end?
