Time Travel

If the experiment is a success, it will be the first real instance of time travel. If anyone has any questions about the stuff in the article, most of it is on the more basic 'cyrus-can-understand-it' side of quantum theory and I should be able to explain it better. The article leaves out some important, I think anyway, explinations.

  2. I'm curious to see what comes out of this. It brings into question a lot of fundamental assumptions... makes you wonder if it does go from Wave to Particle, did it hit once or twice? Once before the 50ms delay and once after? Lots of questions... few answers!

  3. When it comes to things that happen at the same time: Detecting one of the split particles will always affect the other particle. If its path is detected, it will act as a particle. If the path is not detected, and there is never any way to know which path it took, it will act as a wave. Also, the former particle will only hit once.. it should just match up to weather the second is detected or not before the fact.

    Great Scott!

  7. im telling you UFO's are from our future and there are no Aliens!!!!!! :mars: :abduct:

  8. Lmao we're already on the verge of possibly finding a way to travel *back* in time. Instant communication regardless of the distance between the sources. Finding out that there is indeed a "faster than light" method of travel. Hell, it could very well give way to instant teleportation anywhere in the universe.

It would be insane to find out that we've had everything backwards, and it is really effect that causes...cause. That could even explain the origins of our universe.

    Crazy.

  9. I've not yet read the article and will do so.

    First impression is...

"What's the deal?" We are ALL traveling through time. ;)

The cause of the Big Bang could be us (or another intelligent observer) traveling back in time to attempt to observe it.

  11. all this time travel talk..INSANE!!! INSANE I TELL YOU!!!

now stop before i have to think about it...i can feel a headache already starting...*cry*

  12. *chuckling* Good one Test.

I always liked the quote; "The universe was created when God divided by zero"

What interests me is we assume its time travel, if the experiment works, what if it's some aspect of Quantum mechanics we don't get yet? Our kids could look back at this and laugh their @$$3$ off....

  13. Makes me want to blow my head off... And how the hell would he have been able to travel back to a start that never started if he never went there. How would it have started the first time? :)

/me in sauce factory and totally lost

If time travel were real wouldn't someone have come back to our time by now.

Please don't blow your head off, we like you much better with a head. :)

I know what you mean, though, it's difficult to wrap your mind around the notion that "effect" causes "cause".

Someone claimed to have done just that several years ago. The most likely explanation for it is that it was a clever hoax, and the fact that the sources for the article are hardly bastions of credibility lends credence to this.
