  2. First pic has some nice ski spots. Smooth round hills. The second one, well..not much to ski on there, but T2's maps weren't always really ski friendly o_O

Oh man did you see the in game footage at IGN? I know its in alpha, but still it looks like pure shit. The only cool thing they have is the ragdoll effect.

  4. Correction.
Most of T2's maps were not HOF-friendly.

  8. Not ski friendly? Apparently you gents haven't practiced enough in 'classic' and gotten into a "Juggy".

I kid you not - I've tried to SL a Juggy (who never knew I was there) and I couldn't catch him....

    Damn kids.... ;)

The movies I saw at UVA looked incredible, so I don't know what you're watching, besides it's only 35% done.

Remember guys, Kinetic Poet is working on this game and he's a huge T1 fan. He is very into skiing and enhancing the movement in the game to make it more thrilling.

I got to play a bit on the current build of T:V and it is very skiiable. even the cities have rolling terrain below. Right now the maps are not finished so all the buildings are bouncy. I hope they leave some bouncy spots in because that was kinda fun to bounce from place to place. There was a "map" used for demonstrating physics where you could walk from room to room and see how the weapons and objects interact. you could move barrels around with the blast of grenades, you could shatter glass, etc.

The sky and the way the terrain is laid out is breathtaking to me. The ruins of the cities look like villages as you ski up to them. I know multiplayer will be great because Kinetic Poet is there and he's a perfectionist and avid Tribes 1 fan. I wish you could have heard the tweaking he described doing in TR2-how he worked around the T2 engine flaws.

I can't wait to play the single player. Ken, the guy from irrational in Boston who is writing the story, said it is based on a mother and daughter. One fails and the other succeeds. It is about someone from a wealthy, noble family finding roots with the common people. An extremely cool thing about the single player is that as you experience the story, you take on different characters throughout it, just as you might switch views throughout the watching of a movie. You may be an adult woman or a child or a huge warrior and each has it's own attributes, it's own style and characteristics.

I got to see a bit of the single player in action...mind you this was just the proof of concept done by irrational and omg. Even Sierra couldn't believe how far Irrational went with the story line. They are using Irrational's proof of concept to present Tribes: Vengeance to the press.

One of the most amazing things about T:V to me...maybe because I don't develop games and it seems so complex a feature to offer, fans will be able to write their own single player adventures and can set up characters in the single player to interact, and can manipulate the enviornment themselves. This blew me away.

This game is going to surpass the original Half Life in single player from what I saw and it is going to totally exceed our expectations in multiplayer. I have that much faith in Kinetic Poet.

  16. Maybe its just me, but I haven't looked for a single player game in a FPS since Wolfenstein (the original, not that crap that came out later).

The multiplayer aspect of Tribes Vengance will make or break the game for the majority of the community, I would think. Any single player game they throw in is just a bonus.

If that game UEs on me once, I'm burning it and throwing it out the fuking window and never buying another Sierra product again.

The single player is to draw new people and notice, they are going after the female market aggressively here.

  18. So this story is supposed to take place Pre-Tribes 1 right?

I have One question to ask then,

Where the hell are the HERC's?

Indeed. Vivindi is pretty stupid to even think about focusing on the SP aspect IMO. Nobody wants that crap anymore.

I will just save myself the 50$, I'm done with tribes anyway :brow:
