Video Editing and Ripping

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by FaithStrike, 1 Jun 2006.

  1. What software do you guys use to RIP DVDs with and edit video. I need something simple and cheap to RIP some video from a DVD to put on a website. RIP just a small portion or snippet of the video as well as being able to copy a DVD (with encryption).

    Thanks

  2. i dont' do any editing, but dvdshrink and dvddecrypt are useful freeware utilities to rip dvd's. I've done a few and haven't run into encryption problems, but dvddecrypt is supposed to be able to handle any that u do encounter.

    try here for DvdShrink

    try here for DvdDecrypt

  3. Do they allow you to rip just a portion of the video. Say I wanted to rip like a minute or 2 off of a video for promotional purposes. Can I do that with these utilities?

  4. no. just whole dvd's or chapters.

  5. I need something that will allow me to rip just a portion [Start Here....Stop Here] kinda thing.

You could probably rip the chapter that contains the clip you want, then import the video file into Windows Movie Maker or something and cut out the extra bits that you don't need.

  7. Adobe Premiere might do what you need - but it isn't all that cheap...
