Vonage-anyone using it

Discussion in 'General Open/Public Discussion' started by Paladin, 18 Feb 2005.

  1. Hey all I'm looking into getting Vonage for the home and my bussiness, wanted to know if any of you are using it and how u like it. Pro's and Con's

    ORANGE DragonWolf

My mom is getting it at the end of this week. So I should be able to let you know what it's like by then. One thing I do know is that the sound quality is about that of a cell phone according to one of my dad's co-workers.

  3. I know i get some special deal on it like 19.99 a month instead of 24.99 because of Best Buy employers. We are thinking about getting it at home but still undure.

  4. I've had it for a while now. We like it so far.

We took the $15.00 a month plan because even if you go over, you have to go over by 300 min to make the $25.00 plan worth while. So far so good.

We transferred over Chrismas and transferred our existing number. They said a minimum of 20 days to get your old number working but it took us damn near 2 months. That sucked.

Every once in a while the phone doesn't ring and goes straight into V-mail. And sometimes it rings funny. I don't know yet if that is cause I have a POS digital phone, haven't gotten around to buying a new one, ours is a couple years old.

But those are really minor issues considering we are paying 40% of what we were paying. I'll live with it. We haven't had any issues with call quality or anything of that nature. The only other problem is, that if your broadband goes down, you need a cell to call your ISP :p Overall I wouldn't give them 100% more like 80%. But if I had to give you my opinion of AT&T, MCI, or SBC they would all be around 30% so...

Yeah I'd give it a shot. It's a hell of a lot easier if you don't transfer your existing number, just because you don't have to carry 2 phone providers for a month.

If you want it, let me know so I can send you the refer a friend email and get a free month :p

  5. LMAO I will !

  6. They email me my voice mail messages....

I think I like that feature, not sure yet.

  7. Oh nother thing, their fees and such aren't crazy either. I mean with SBC we had close to $10 a month on taxes and fees. My total vonage bill every month is $16.94, billed straight to my credit card.

There long distance rates to other countries are great too if you have any need of that.
