  1. Im gonna get another system, and just use it for a modest little server on my RoadRunner cable (maybe 16 ppl in T2)

    Specifically:
I want to know what you think is the best Processor/ MoBo combo

I tend to buy Asus and Abit MoBo's
(good performance out of em in the past)

I want at LEAST 1.4 or 1.5 gig processor

At this point, I'm not inclined towards Athlons or Pentiums, neither makes that much diff to me. I've always used Pentiums in the past.

Whats your choice of a good vid card in the $150.00 price range?

Thanks ahead of time for your input :)

I am useing a 1.4 gig P4 with an Intel D850GB bored and I am happy with it. I really like the board becuase it comes with a built in tempeture guage. I think it's a tiny bit faster then my sisters 1.4 gig Athalon System. The only draw pack is that you have to use PC800 Rambus memory with the P4, and it has to be used in pairs. That can get a little pricey when your adding memory.

Heres a sreen shot ot the temp guage program that comes with the MB if your interested:

  3. The ABIT KG7 Mobo is out.

Tis kick ass, 4 DDR RAM slots, up to 4Gb of DDR RAM :D

Also got built in RAID 0 or 1 if you choose to go that route (gonna cost you another hard drive though).

The MOBO is $160 - 170 so a little above your price range. I only read initial reviews of the board and they were pretty good, I'm a gonna get one if i can ever find any more money.

DDR RAM is cheap enough to wipe your ass with.

I find it hard to believe that a 1.4 Intel would out perform a 1.4 AMD if you hold all other factors besides memory the same.

As for vid cards, the GeForce 2 prices are falling, i'll have to check to see what's out there.

Go with an Athlon Tbird if you're going to game with it.

If this was a year ago when i built my current system I could help ya out. Its not to slow yet (it runs T2 great, err used to..) so ive been out of the PC hardware developments since then :/

  7. As of now, there are NO good video cards in the $150 range.

When I get home, I will give you the addy of a mobo/cpu/memory combo that's really r33t... the cheapest one I can find is $153 + shipping, and that's a noname mobo + 1.2 GHZ athlon, and 128 mb pc133 ram.

  8. MX = lose

  9. yup I have a p3 600 w/ 128 mb of ram and I have all settings maxxed w/ 50-60 fps yup...MX=lose.... :D

  10. I dun get it, my system must really f0rken suck for some reason, maybe you guys can make suggestions.

I have an AMD 1.4 with 512Mbs DDR RAM
    Using GeForce 2 GTS 32Mb

I play on 1024 X 768 and it runs between 35-45 fps under normal combat outside.

    WTF am I doing wrong?

I don't even have all the settings turned up. My cable modem smokes at speed and my pings are always some of the lowest.

I get like 80 fps inside, but who tf cares about that, I dunt play inside all that often.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

I'm using the newest detonator drivers.

I get similar, allot of times people are "averaging" out their FPS, 80 fps in a full scale battle in T2 is debatable, I want to see a screenshot :D

  12. Rayzer , Hamma ... the secret to these High FPS Readings....

    Resolution.

If I were to drop my resolution down from 1280x1024 to 640x480, I would probably triple or better my fps scores from 30 avg to around 90-100 avg, but then again, my game would look like crap. I say, play the game at the highest resolution that you can and still get Playable framerates, and leave the high framerates for those with dinky monitors.

This game was definitely made to be run at high resolutions.

Hey K, we should hook Rayzer up with Neo. Their both from South Africa.

  17. yea...they talk funny... :D

Hehe my version of XP is a coorpetate unlimited use version....So microsoft cant look into my system like w/ other versions :p

  18. Does that mean you gonna send me a copy so they can't track me either???

I live in the U.S. butt holes so shipping won't be bad.

And I don't talk funny anymore, although my parents do. :D
