It's recently come to my attention that the agenda of some of the world's major religions is the fill the living quarters of Hell...with someone, anyone...disbelievers? Infidels? People who dare to be true to their own thoughts, ideas, beliefs and refuse to compromise?

Exactly what is hell? I would define hell as a place where you are forced to pretend you agree with someone you don't agree with. Hell to me is when you are told you are going to hell if you don't believe something you don't believe. Hell for me is my childhood but I am outgrowing it and learning to think beyond it.

    What is hell for you?

Heaven is not pearly gates and Hell is not where sinners roast. Both are this life on Earth...it is up to the Individual as to which they are in.

  3. Er... its like this see.....

This couple, I think thier name was Ole and Lena... But, ... hmm.... Yeah, that was their name... Anywho, they were fishing see.. Ice fishing....... And a horrible thing happened. The Ice broke and poor Ole and Lena drowned in freezing Ice water, on some unknown lake in Minnesota...

Ole and Lena had been bad, so they went to hell you see... When the devil came to meet them, he was suprised to see Ole and Lena so happy in the burning heat of hell. He asked them, "why are you so happy?" and they replied that the winters in Minnesota got very cold and this felt so nice to them. Mad, the devil stomped off and muttered "I'll show them.." and he turned the thermostat as Hot as it could go...

The next day, he came back again, but Ole and Lena looked even happier. Even more upset and more determined then ever to exact his toll, the devil walked off and turned all the fires of hell off. The next day, the Devil came back to find a very cold and frigid Ole and Lena... And.... They were Happier then ever......

Now totally perplexed, The devil asked Ole and Lena what the hell they were so happy about.....

Ole and Lena replied that the Vikings must have won the super bowl, for they always knew it would be a cold day in hell before the Vikings would win the super bowl......

What do I think is hell? I dont know where to begin.

Hell is a place designed for Satan and his angels. It is a place of eternal, conscious torment, and where the flame nor worm never die. Because of sin (rebellion towards God), mankind is destined to end up there as well. But because God loved us He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die vicariously on a cross that whosoever believes, or has faith in Him, will not have to suffer the wrath of God and experience this place called hell, but will spend eternity with Him. Jesus died, was buried and was bodily raised three days later to ensure this fact.

hehehe! I like this story. I guess Ole and Lena made it Hell for Satan.

...and conceivably, Heaven and Hell could be the very same place geographically but you'd have to be able to enjoy the bright side like Ole and Lena do to feel you're in Heaven. Not everyone is capable of that. That is interesting. Your story and Chuck's comments point toward this idea.

And shads, you're back. You survived and you're back with us where you belong. <3

Mani, thank you for posting. I am exploring, trying to figure things out, trying to find my way.

Swift As Feather does hit on something that the religious peoples came across when hitting the northern regions.

They told them that "Hell was a place of fire and brimestone". The natives asked "How do we get there?". As they didn't like the cold.

It just shows that the scare tactics of religion don't work everywhere. And perhaps the religious peoples should do a bit more investigating so they can bend the truth even more when hitting places like that.

They both exist here on this ball of dirt we call Earth....you decide which is yours.

My Hell is I have to work and get old. My Heaven is my family, and hot chicks.
Everything else inbetween is a mixture of both.

And I enjoy the inbetween almost as much!!!

Hell is moving back to the town I grew up in to find that it is no longer the quaint blue coller town it once was. It is now a rich snooty hell hole full of snobs in Hummer H2's.

Every shitty little dive bar I loved in this town is gone.

  13. ok, i've been thinking on this, and I've come up with the conclusion "is there a crime you could possibly commit on Earth that would be worthy of ETERNAL seperation from god?"

  14. Any imperfection, any sin is enough to seperate you from God. Imperfection cannot exist in His presence. Luckily, God made it easy for us. All you have to do is acknowledge Christ as his Son and Lord with both your heart and your mouth, and God will cover your imperfection with Jesus's ultimate perfection. Thus, you can have relationship with God, free to you, and guarenteed access to eternity and life with God. The critical part is believing in your heart- anyone can and many do confess Christ with their mouth, but reject Him with their lives.

So really, its not a question of what crimes or sins you are capable of committing here on earth that might keep you from God. Everyone has done something that would do so. Its a matter of whether or not you'll acknowledge the fact that you do in fact sin- that you are imperfect- and that short of God taking a hand in your life, you cannot be perfect, cannot be free of sin, and are in need of His help. Its a matter of choice - do you acknowledge Jesus as God, or do you reject Him? That is the crucial moment. Do you take the wide and easy road, or the narrow and little traveled path? The former may seem best to most and the latter is definately not free of struggle, pain, or even sin. The former allows you to take advantage of all the world has to offer, if you can. But that is only for a time - the time you have here on earth. We all know that that time is finite to a great degree. The latter opens you up to eternal blessing.

There are always consequences for our actions. So either way we chose, someone has to pay for the sins we've committed. Will you pay for your sins, or will you allow Christ's sacrifice on the cross to pay for you?

  15. *curious* Aside from Christianity, how many religions have a concept of Hell? I remember a few "not allowing you in" if you didn't make the cut, and isn't there one that believes that only a certain number are allowed into its version of Heaven?

Seems Hell, as with life, depends on your perspective.

some believe what you have here on earth is it.

If it were easy and profitable to be good, everyone would be doing it.

  17. Well, if this life on earth is all we have, then no one will ever know it. We'll all be dead and no one person will be able to confirm it. If there is life after death, then we'll all know it, and everyone will be able to attest to its veracity.

As for the ease of 'good', I agree. If someone ever said being 'good' was easy, they were lying since we all have a propensity towards being not 'good'.

edit and sidebar: you know...the more i wrote the word 'good' and looked at it...the weirder the word looked...funny how that tends to happen when u write and look at the same word over and over....

  18. I Look at it this way.

Sure, its not easy being good, but do you feel good being bad? OR, do you feel good when your ARE good.

If you try to do good, and their is a heaven, and a hell, think about your reward, and the vice versa.

If you are good and as it turns out, there is no hell, no heaven, then what? People still remember you as being a good person, and you lived your life well and just.

Now I know people who are atheist, and some of them are good people. I also know people who claim to be religious and they, well.. may not be as good as they should be. Perhaps if there is a heaven and hell, even those who dont believe will find heaven, because they were good people.

Live your life well, do for others, live justly and you will be rewarded regardless.

  19. We only know the final answer once we die. There for we must live life the best we can with the honor to respect yourself, others and have them respect you.

  20. Amen!!!!

    I concur 100%!
