  1. since i've been kicked out of the wow discussion.....still for some reason i dont understand i'd like to post this about the raid expansion max players....

"For now, the scaled instances will only apply to Burning Crusade dungeons, but Chilton doesn't rule out the possibility that other zones may someday receive similar treatment, "That's going to be only for Burning Crusade instances. It is something we can apply retroactively -- that might be something that we do over time, but for now it's just going to apply to Burning Crusade." There's a lot more from Tom Chilton coming soon on 1UP, but this is just the first taste of some of the new treats coming in the Burning Crusade."

That came from an article on 1up.com. Like I have told some people they are keeping all the 40 man instances that are in the game right now. It's just they are not ADDing any more 40 man instances. And everything will be able to be scaled to the difficulty that you want to take it at. Think about it why would they get rid of the 40 man instances when thats what some people only like to do.

  2. Tuning encounters for 40 people is difficult. New encounters that are built around a 40 man raid are taxing on the server as well as client machines, with all the spell effects and spawned adds. Rounding up 40 for a raid can be difficult, maintaining a roster that can field a balanced raid is even harder.

Naxx requires a ton of consumables in order to progress. Smaller raids would give people time to take a break from raiding without hampering their guild's progress to a large degree, as well as reducing the number of consumables the average raid goes through in a night.

For every Patchwerk kill right now, we go through a minimum of:
    4 flasks of the titans
Mages/warlocks generally bring their own flask of supreme power
    Major mana pots
    12 greater stoneshield pots
    elixirs of the mongoose
    juju power
    winterfall firewater
    mana/wizard oil
    mageblood potions
    etc

    It gets expensive to maintain.

  3. yeap, but those members farm a couple hours during the week to replace those ingrediants....and tahts all they need to do they dont need to run any low level instances and there's no need to do any quests...so it gives them something to do while they wait untill friday or saturday for the chance or an epic t1 or t2 set item to drop that they will win.

  4. It's quite simple actually, and it's not that blizzard can't make 40 man raid dungeons. They're getting a lot better at it, MC, BWL, AQ, Nax are all set ups in the development of raid dungeos.

40 person dungeons require guids of anywhere from 55-100+ people. That is hard to manage and maintain and excludes a large section of the player base from those encounters. Also with 40 man encounters at some point skill is replaced with sheer numbers. You just need enough bodies. The coordination is a bit of a nightmare which also limits what Blizzard can do with the encounteres.

Capping it at 25 allows Blizzard to keep moving towards encounters which require coordination and skill rather than a massive number of bodies. It allows more guilds to participate because coordinating 40 people total is a lot easier than 70. It lets them get more people involved in end game content.

A 40 man dungeon might hit 30-40% of the player base, whereas a 25man will accomodate 70%. It's good for business. That's my take :p

Why don't you try using the PM feature to find out. You still have General access:

    :D

  6. To replace the ingredients for the potions used, yes. But we also have to farm to make sure we don't run out of consumables, farm for repair money, and farm more for tier 3 armor costs.

Heres a site with the tier 3 rogue material cost: http://www.worldofraids.com/v2/?page=t3&rub=mat&p=rogue

Something close to 900-1000 gold in materials and payments to NPCs to get 8 of the 9 pieces in the set.

  7. its not hard to make a lot of money when you're end game raiding though so the money aint that bad plus 900-1000 gold isnt hard to get really...considering the epic mount is what like 720 g....farm live strat for a coulpe days with your guild and get the righteous orbs...right now the orbs selling for 60-70 g on my server and they are dropping at least 2 a run....

I got Saras complete orb set for her robes the second time I ran Live Strat. She got all 4 of them from me.

  9. Yea right there 4x60-70 = 240-280g :-( sorry sent hehe /cheer sara

  10. Yes, Ive done the orb thing (and usually end up passing on rolls for people who need a glove/weapon healing enchant or crusader), I've farmed and sold herbs. For a while I farmed burning essence from the BRD coffer and would sell the FR libram combine to people.

Gold is not very difficult to make, but when raiding its even easier to spend.

One of our warriors has started doing pickup Onyxia runs where all the items are randomed for and afterwards he disbands the raid and loots the gold.

So are the rumors about yall transferring true or not, cant ever tell from WoW Forums.

  12. Raiding guilds don't raid Friday and Saturday night. Expecially while trying to progress in Naxx most guild raid at least 5 nights a week.

Feralina and Patchwork fights you're wiping every 2min while learning the encounter and when you're geared out that's a cloth repair bill of 12g or a plate repair bill of 20g once or even twice every night. And when you're already committed to raiding for 3-5 hours, most people don't have another 2 hours to farm every day. That doesn't even count if you like to pvp!

But I don't think smaller sized instances will remove the need for consumables.

And lack of gold is always an issue. There are tons of ways to make it, but not always enough time.

  13. well put :) and so very very true!!!
