X52 Magnet Mod

    Beach approached me at work today as he is going to be purchasing an X52 (when funds are available) and said that he was talking to someone else about the magnet mod for these to get rid of the deadzone that these things have stock.

    Here is the video that I followed for when I modded mine and I could tell the deadzone had decreased quite a bit.

    MAGNET MOD!

    The magnets I purchased were slightly bigger than this (they didn't have any that were metric at the hobby shop I go to) for about 12 bucks.


    Now to actually be able to login and have Star Citizen acknowledge I have a HOTAS is going to be wonderful... I think?
     
  2. Nice, just ordered the 1/2 x 1/8.

    Will try with 1 and then 2 on each see which is better.

    The ones that I got are .5 in x .125 in (12.7mm x 3.2mm) just took one magnet on each point. (Total of 4 magnets)

    No problems, I found others but they involve cutting, hot glue, and other mish mosh. This one seemed a lot less invasive/reversible if it didn't work the way I wanted it to!

    Also as a side note, these magnets are wicked strong and messing around with them and watching how far they can attract to each other is amazingly fun...However they click together with a solid amount of force so be a bit cautious with them. (I may or may not have broken a few of my spares while seeing how far I could get them to shoot to each other across my desk... definitely not while at work Beach....)

    Yeah. A few I found were doing the same thing; cutting, hot gluing, etc. glad this one is simple to execute and modify even.

    Now all I have to do is get my x52 to work with Star citizen and I will be good to go! (works fine with ED) I have been reading it may be a driver issue but I will have to hope I can actually get into the game tonight to see if I can get it ironed out.

  13. If the controls are reversed or one not working at all I saw some posts about making sure they are labeled as USB 1 and 2 in the correct order in windows.

    I will have to check this as well. I have a lot of things plugged into my PC.
     
  16. Or change all instances of js1 to js2 or js3, etc. in the xml file.

    For what it's worth, Daleons xml mod puts most of the X52 controls in the right place, and the magnet mod improves the sensitivity greatly, I can make far greater fine adjustments, trying to get a bead on another ship than I could previously..

    Only now I'm still overcompensating when I move, from the dead zone, so I've got to unlearn that :p

    LOL! Glad the magnet mod worked for you Asp! I am suggesting it for anyone that has the x52.

    Both the magnet mod and Daleon's script helped immensely.
