  1. Again, for someone who's making such claims of authority on the Bible, you are coming up short. For starters, the law of Moses given in the Old Testament is not binding upon us because of Christ, His Life, Death, Burial and Reserrection freed us all from the old law.

2ndly, what Leviticus 19:13 actually says is: "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives."

Under Old Testament/Jewish law, you are correct; people caught engaging in homosexual acts were to be killed. However, Christ does not call us to kill those who engage in sinful acts. In fact, He asks that we forgive them.

  2. what has to be forgiven? homosexual acts are a sin in your eyes?

  3. Really? In what way?

I did just that, you are correct:)

  4. According to the Teachings of the Catholic Church, yes. It is not sinful to have a same sex attraction, but it is sinful to committ homosexual acts.

You can go here for a more detailed explanation of the Catholic Church's Teachings regarding homosexuals and homosexual activity.

A brief excerpt from the beginning:

Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
    October 1, 1986

    1. The issue of homosexuality and the moral evaluation of homosexual acts have increasingly become a matter of public debate, even in Catholic circles. Since this debate often advances arguments and makes assertions inconsistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church, it is quite rightly a cause for concern to all engaged in the pastoral ministry, and this Congregation has judged it to be of sufficiently grave and widespread importance to address to the Bishops of the Catholic Church this Letter on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons.

    2. Naturally, an exhaustive treatment of this complex issue cannot be attempted here, but we will focus our reflection within the distinctive context of the Catholic moral perspective. It is a perspective which finds support in the more secure findings of the natural sciences, which have their own legitimate and proper methodology and field of inquiry.

However, the Catholic moral viewpoint is founded on human reason illumined by faith and is consciously motivated by the desire to do the will of God our Father. The Church is thus in a position to learn from scientific discovery but also to transcend the horizons of science and to be confident that her more global vision does greater justice to the rich reality of the human person in his spiritual and physical dimensions, created by God and heir, by grace, to eternal life.

It is within this context, then, that it can be clearly seen that the phenomenon of homosexuality, complex as it is, and with its many consequences for society and ecclesial life, is a proper focus for the Church's pastoral care. It thus requires of her ministers attentive study, active concern and honest, theologically well-balanced counsel.

  5. why is it sinful to engage in the acts?

btw...blah blah blah...i dont' want something handed down from some writings from a priest or whatever he is..im asking for you opinion...

  6. Ok.. since you totally missed the point, I'll requote this entire train of thought so that you can get back on track.

Ok. Now this part of the thread is now re-railed and we can again talk about how Hardcore Athiests and Christians are both Dilligent and Vehement.

  7. but arg..i love the circles..it gives me a nice warm feeling of nausea when i try to follow it ;)

  8. For all you know, yes, yes I have. In fact he just came to me about 10 minutes ago and said "Kai, you need to set that dude straight" so I says "You got it god, nice robe by the way"

So here I am. Telling you how to interpret your bible. The self-proclaimed absolute truth. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to tell you to go kill homosexuals now, and revoke all womens' rights from any and all females you may know. God said so.

Joking aside. By what authority can you say Jesus meant this or that? That would be interpreting his words, which is, according to you, not allowed. Where does it say Jesus' death freed you from the old testament exactly? Hell, even if you found quotes, if it's from the bible, you've got a great story, but thats it.

  9.

  10. My opinion is based on the same Teachings of the Church...so if that's blah blah blah to you, I'm not sorry;)

In short, homosexual activity is contrary to the Wisdom and Will of God. Homosexual activity is disordered. Life will never be created from homosexual activity.

  11. You should tell that to Melissa Etheridge and her Girlfriend.

  12. Verdictis is doing a better job poking holes in the bible than I am. Hell, by the time this thread is through, I'll be surprised if he leaves a single passage intact.

I also think its funny that he "corrected" my paraphrase with something that is, essentially, the same thing... and then tried to tell me I was wrong. Bring back Mari... at least he made sense. I'm getting the impression what debating Verdictis will be like listening to two chinese food restaurants trying to order takeout from each other at the same time.

  13. Because you can't make your own decisions on the subject you follow what the church says about it. This is the fundamental flaw that you have displayed over and over again in this thread. Deny it all you want. I'm pretty sure the people reading this thread are catching it too.

  14. why/how is it contrary to the wisdom of god? because life cannot be created from it? and how is homosexual activity disorderd? again because it cannot create life? thru your teachings are you not learning how to form your own opinions? most everything i have seen has been c/p'd from someone elses "opinions" *shrug*

  15. LOL!!! Funny non-sensical dodge.

  16. Thanks for doing that. I did lose the flow of that particular portion of the thread.

  17. LOL!!! That was funny!

Had they, directly thru their homosexual activities created a baby, you'd sure have a point:)

  18. and her kids...
