I've down loaded the client, if someone is willing to let me borrow there user name and pass so I can see if I like the game then I'll go from there.

However I can't see paying $50 to find out a game sucks or not.

Well since everyone is on the same "server" (I think so) you can just whisper anyone as long as you know their user name. They also have an in-game buddy system.

I would expect bamboo shoots under one's fingernails to be an ever so pleasantly refreshing experience!

The major concern I have about this game is if its going to get hacked left and right. Considering there is no monthly fees, updates and security could seriously lack.

 

There is that possibility. I do know that updates have already been released.

The game is solidly Client/Server and built to survive. The team is coming from Blizzard and put security up front. So far, no hacks. All the other normal quirks, but nothing huge.

 

A little late bro. The game has been in "Open Beta" for almost a year now where there were monthly open events so you could see if you liked it or not. We've posted about'em here. Now its $50.

 

Updates are streamed in regularly. The "official" ones you see are the major releases. There have been 3 in the first week, no surprise really, some text changes, quirks in the quest system.... nothing surprising given the amount of content they unleashed for release vs. what we were playing with on Beta.

Greatest game ever? *shrugs* It'll depend on your perspective, but I have a lot of fun and being able to get on, play for an hour and get off is very nice.

In GW, its about the choices. If you have questions feel free to PM here or in game. As of this month, I've been in game for a year.

From what I have heard, while there is no monthly fee, there were gonna be quarterly expansions that you would be required to buy. Kinda defeating the whole no fee crap. Is that true?

 

Required to Buy? No.

There will be some number of expansions per year, but you are not required to purchase them. Its your option. If you do not purchase them, and your friends do, you will still be able to play in the lands you own, but not join your friends in the new lands.

As for defeating the purpose, if your paying $15/mo for your MMORPG that's $180/year, not including any expansions. GW is only the expansions - IF you buy them.

Pricing has not been set yet for the expansions, but A.Net has said that each expansion will have as much content as the original game.
