The problem I see with this game is that it seems like everything is instanced, which sort of takes the MM out of MMO. It sort of seems like I am paying for a monthly fee so I can stand in a chat room in-between small PvE or PvP.

  2. Not to be a Huxley poo poo-er but...I hate when they make game trailers that will not give you an idea whatsoever of how the game will play.

I'll try it out but as Hamma and Asp pointed out, my game time is limited at times. If our squad goes up against a squad that is more pimped out and we lose because of their better weapons - it will not make me want to spend more time in game to get better weapons. I will become disinterested.

...but here's to hoping that Huxley may be a game that can bring us all together.

  3. There isn't much more here (not even a trailer), but it may address some of the most-obvious questions about the title's main levels of gameplay:

Being somewhat of a pragmatist towards MMOFPS games, personally I don't mind the fact they are being so quiet about the game because... yes... there is YET ANOTHER comparison to Tribes in this article :)

Regardless of what many may think, there is life after Tribes, even though it's mostly stagnant.

The thing is, Tribes had everything any gamer could possibly want in a FPS. I was absolutely satisfied, even happy, with T1 and T2. The community and rampant cheating ruined it for me.

But if they can bring forth a Tribes-like game in this genre, I am there.

Bit of a disappointing remark from Penny Arcade

Huxley – Here was a game that promised a MMOFPS using the Unreal 3 engine. What I saw in their booth was an uninspired dime a dozen FPS that looked more like Unreal 2. It certainly didn’t look anything like the stunning video they released a few months back. The PR machine for this game is in full effect but it’s all smoke and mirrors. There’s no game there, at least not yet.

That's dissapointing. I hope that this game isn't in another internal transition. Keep it an FPS that we all want damnit!

[dark force power - breaking will] You will keep Huxley a twitch game.

  7. During last week, a piece was done by Gametrailers about the game during their tour of the Webzen Booth. It is just over 2 minutes in length and shows a very small portion of a live betatest being performed on the expo's floor...

I have trimmed down the booth tour for those who are interested in seeing the movie, but have nowhere to host it - maybe Marsman could host it for a bit on the CDL's server. Whether or not this beta or any other will be released later this year (or at all) is anyone's guess, but they have said the game will ship in 2007, and then 6 months after that for Xbox360-users.

Furthermore, there is still no details on whether this release date for the final game will occur at the start or the end of 2007, but I wouldn't hold my breath if they still don't even have a website :(

Gamespy's ongoing coverage of the game has been updated again, this time focusing on the hitboxes and skill-slots. Suffice to say, the layout sounds a lot like Neocron assignment of skills/equipment...

    Anyway, here is the article:

Well thank god they put something Official out there. I was seriously doubting this game actually being playable anytime in my future. Sort of like seeing peace in the middle east in my lifetime.

The graphics seem to be looking nicer than I remember. My only concern with the game is that everything may be too instanced, and that it will sort of feel like a standard FPS but with a monthly fee. Either way, it is something to keep an eye on.

  12. Wasn't Planetside, technically, instanced?

If the instances player limit is in the hundreds I'd be happy...

...or am I way off base?

    **EDIT**
Because the biggest problem I have with games nowadays is that you can't go into them as a clan and team up. I want to fight on the side of Dragon Wolves...nothing irks me more than getting killed and looking up and seeing that it's a fellow wolf that brought about your demise...of course it would have to be a fellow wolf because no one else will be bringing me down...oh yea!

It's almost like the devs are purposely trying to de-segregate the clan populations in their worlds.

BF2 was criminal in that respect.

    Planteside was awesome.

Right, Planetside was instanced. What I meant to say is that I fear the encounters will be small localized battles.

I thought I read that the instance player caps in Huxely are going to be rather low.

  14. That would blow. (Ha I rhymed!)

(See my above post for edits)

I want it to be enough of an instance where we can all jump in. Whether it be 5 or 30. If we can jump in as a group that would be killer. This is all I want out of our next game.
