    Do they have to be 'historical' in nature? ;)

    So how do we decide what book first? Do we go by genre? Date of Release? Oprah's book club?

    Only preference I have for the first book is to read something that isn't controversial/related to the other thread -- we're covering that discussion pretty well already.

    Not that I don't want to read them -- I'd just like some varied discussion. :)

    As far as whether romance novels count, I'd say anything counts.

    The Belgaraid and the Mallorean...good books. I've read Polgara and Belgarath as well. Were pretty good books. Thought about the Rivan Codex, but then Goodkind started to come out with his books, and I haven't looked back since.
