What are you training for Great Dane?

 

Nothing really.

For 6 months, I have been telling them that a piece of software that I am supposed to implement (web publishing stuff) will not meet our requirements, and will not work for us.

For 6 months I have been told, that it will work, because that's what the sales people told us. Even to the point where i said last week that everyone was in for a surprise at training this week when they learned for themsleves that it will not work.

I was also told last week that I needed to quit being so negitive about this piece of software, and that I would never get a promotion if I kept being so negitive.

Well here we are in training, and low and behold I was right all along. It does not work, and the sales people lied to us. So for the last 6 months that I was being "negitive" by telling them the it would not work, has finally been accepted as the truth

Unfortunatley it cost the company thousands of dollers, not to mention the man hours of a project team of 4 people over the course of 6 months to come to the conclusion that I was right.

The moral to the story? If you do things at work to try and save time and money Management will call you "negitive", so the best course of action for all future endevors is to stfu & stfd.

 

Sometimes Management is unclear when they make a decision. When shown facts and proof of a negative element A good manager will realize this immediately and make the corrections. Also a good manager will never take for granted the knowledge and expierience of the people that he or she manages.

 

Good managers are, regrettabely, nearly nonexistent in todays world.

 

That is a very true fact. There are good managers and bad managers. A good manager will never forget where they came from and where they first started. They will respect and understand thier employees and the needs of the company that they work for. A persons true nature will come when they are put into a postion of power and that will be the true test if they succeed in life as well in thier career.
