Is anyone else hooked on the new Battlestar Gallactica?

  1. LOL

Granted...i've not seen either show in a while, but B5 in concept was developed as a 5 year interwoven story arc. Nearly every episode was designed as a part of the completed idea. Seemingly minor parts of season one have a critical impact on the last episodes of the later seasons, for example. Whereas with any Star Trek show, and most other series regardless of genre, have to pull each new season out of their butts when they get signed on for each new year.

As for the fx... i think B5's were great, but again...haven't watched it in a while. Either way - Star Trek shows traditionally have a large budget due to their franchise success, whereas other shows aren't as fortunate. So i'm sure DS9 did have excellent battle scenes.

But refresh my memory - did the federation ships all wait until they were getting pounded on for a few minutes before returning minimal yield fire?
Lol, that was one of the most frustrating parts of ST for any series - they let their tails get kicked for a good bit...and then their like "Fire a low yield torpedoe across their bow" or they simply fire one phazer blast for every 5 or 6 shots from the enemy, regardless of the damage they're taking. IMO, one of the lamest parts of ST.

Again- don't get me wrong - I love Star Trek.

  2. GAH The Dominion War was a joke.

    Shadow for the win.

  3. Fanboi!!!

  4. I'm just tired of these shows where the human race depends the actions of a few people. That was what I liked about the STTOS. They were out exploring and what happened on the most part only effected them. The B5 Shadow War or the Dominion War, The Borg war, SG1 and even Batlle Star seem to have that end of the world feel (which it is). I really liked Above and Beyond where they played off a few soldeirs and there experince in a war that feed off the entire war. They made a differnce but the world didn't depend on them for its very existence. SG Atlantis could be cool but they are already heading down the road that we need to stop the Wraith before they get to our Galaxy. It gets old.
