  1. The light comes on automatically. When he's done, the light turns out.

(Or it could be that he's going pee in the fridge again...)

  3. Well, I went in for the consultation today.. man those eye-ball numbing drops are awesome.. heheh

    Anyway....

They can operate on my eyes... I scheduled myself for June 3rd (A Saturday) so I'll be out of service for 24 hours at least....

The price? 2200 dollars Canadian... that includes both eyes being done (890 per eye), a lifetime warranty on the work (390), and some special work to be done in case I need to have surgury done again. (75 dollars per eye)

I think I'm gunna do it (if finances allow)

Thanks for everyone's kind words and assistance with this... it really means a lot to me. :)

I did it over a year ago and have not regretted it for a second. Here were the issues I had :

    1. The surgery takes about 40 seconds an eye.
    2. There is some pain within 40 mins of the surgery for about an hour - definately take a two hour nap after surgery.
    3. After the nap you can see fairly well but still a little blurry.
    4. The day after is like a brand new start. I had 20/20 day after surgery.
    5. I had dry eyes for about 30 days and had to use drops 3-4 times a day
    6. Had halos and glares for about 30-45 days.
    7. Had 20/15 within a week of surgery.
    8. 1.5 years later - no halos, dry eyes or any negative side effects with the exception of one - my eyes are more sensitive to the sun and bright light.

It was the best 3000.00 I spent...

  5. How long till you can drive/work/go back to life?

After the surgery , make sure someone drives and picks you up . The sun is a killer after the surgery..i think i had my eyes close the whole time after the surgery and all the way home , then my dad left to get me some food..when he got back , i ate my food with my eyes close the whole time they was hurting , then after that took a pain killer and sleeping pill and passed out for 4 - 6 hours .

They told me i could drive back up the next day for my check up .

Night time is little weird for driving for awhile

  7. I can't legally drive for 24 hours.... um... normal life? The day after. I can't watch tv, read a book, play on the computer..... can only sit there and sleep.....

thank GOD I know ways to knock myself out. hehehe

I'm planning for 8 in the morning for the operation... have someone drive me home and then sleep... all day. Listen to some music, have people wait on me... stuff like that.. :)

Gotta wear those stupid sunglasses for like a week... though I'll have a medical note so I don't have to take them off.. ;) rock on. :)

Asmo, I have had it done. I had 20/300 with very bad stigmatism (doctor checking the eyes even said Whoa when he first examined them) I got the new machine for my surgery, 15 minutes and both eyes where done, completly mapped the eye and smoothed it all out and set it all up! I now see 20/20 and I have had no Sight related headaches for a year (was a daily thing)

The first month was hard to get used to (for someone who gets headaches from blury vision you train your eyes to defocus when your not wearing glasses) I would see something clear then it would go fuzzy as my eyes would defocus because I didn't have on glasses. Took a while to get past that. Your not as old as I was so you should get over that pretty quick. Swimming, driving, using telescope or camera's is so much better now. I also have NO halo's at night (had them before the surgery though!)

  9. My uncle had the surgery done as well, and has also reported nothing but good news from it. I am considering it as well, though i will probably wait until i am at least 21.

  10. OMG!! RM!! DUDE!! WSUP!

Operation date is set for June 29th at 3:10 PM. It's going to be chaos. I plan on staying up all night before the operation, sleeping very little, get the surgery done, and pass out for 12-14 hours solid...

    should be fun!

  11. When I took a vision test in elementary school, I was told I was seeing better then 20/20

I also see near-perfectly at night and still have a weird depth perception in totally dark conditions.

    /me flashes eyeshine :D :p hehe

  12. 20/20 vision is perfect vision for the AVERAGE human being. Certain individuals will, by defenition, exceed this mark. As it happens, i generally get the optomitrist to adjust my glasses to a better mark than 20/20 whenever i get a new perscription myself (just takes a bit of patience is all).

  13. Well, tomorrow's the big day. I get to go in and get it done. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

  15. Good luck Asmo!

My wife had the surgery once...unsuccessfully. Unfortunately she was the lucky 1 out of 1000 who had complications. She couldn't stop moving around...which is a big no no.

She is determined to get it right (she's worn glasses all her life) and she is going back tomorrow for her second time to try the lazer surgery.

  17. ...it's been done....

  18. Congrats, glad it went well for you. :)

  19. How's Day 3?

  20. Yesterday I went to work for 8 ungodly hours. My eyes were sore right off the bat. I was not a happy camper....

Today, they seem a lot better... but I'm also sitting in the gloom with my monitor brightness greatly reduced.

So far, so good. I HATE THOSE STUPID LITTLE EYE JOCKS you have to wear. Talk about discomfort. At least last night I passed right out... got 8 good hours of sleep. Today I'm working again for 8 hours. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have the day off (asked it off for 'recuperation' purposes)... but it looks like I'm not gunna get it.. so we'll see how well my eyes hold up to 12 hours of work.

Vision wise? 20/20 in my right, 20/15 in my left. Halo's are definately a problem at night.. but less than what I was expecting.

    Thumbs up so far. :)
