My dad made me go out alone in icy weather in dallas to practice driving in our old, beat up vw bug. Had to use emergency break because the regular breaks weren't functioning. Not sure how that thing passed inspection. I lived.

I've got friends up in Minnesota. Just tell them that Sent told you that you could drive on the lake to practice. They'll understand....

I never liked keeping weight in the back of my RWD vehicles for snow/ice. Yea its nice for getting traction when you want to move in some cases, but when/if you loose the backend that extra weights going to make it alot harder to get back.

I never liked FWD or AWD vehicles much except my Lasabre wich I think has been the easiest to work with in the snow and is kind of an exception lol. I think there great for getting yourself moving but when you need to stop in a hurry or loose controll ill take the RWD. To me with AWD/FWD the power/braking transfer is just to random and has pontential to loose traction more in bad situations. In bad weather I usualy shift through lower gears and let the engine slow me more then the brakes. I just find it easier to work with when your power and engine braking is independant from your steering.

I Guess it all depends on the cars, but thats what ive found with the ones ive driven atleast lol. And thats usualy cars with uneven braking, and not the best of tires for winter hehe. Last winter I drove a posi rear ended crown vic, it was pretty fun, but a little scary with an 1/8" of tread... Still havent gotten new ones yet either, and there even more bald now :p

  8. Now I know what Mig (my wife) was doing yesterday, and couldn't get the milk. She was getting everyone all ranting about driving in the snow. And she makes comment's about me any my rants.

Then, I see she swipes my quote for her sig. Ur going to pay for the women!

I got to play on the a 10000 foot sea ice ski way while in Antarctica. I could drive in snow/ice before. But got a lot more expericence there on being able to read the ice/snow condition. And I'll go off as well. There are some stupid people out there.
