Stupid Macro's

 

Microsoft or Unix?

 

No, I figured out the problem (I hope).

There are 4 parts to one of my Macro's, and in one of those parts it queerys 2 other DB's for information, and then adds that information into a 3rd DB. One of the pieces of information it looks for the file size. If the file size is over a certian limit the macro crashes.

Unfortunatley the people that wrote the Macro didn't have it display a very good error message, so it took me hours of reading the code backwards to track down the max file size, and then it took me another 30 min to talk to the people in that department to track down the bad file (49 meg PDF) and have them remove it from the DB.

Of course durring the process of the Macro crashing I wiped out 90% of our Marketing, Product, Technical, and Sales information. Imagine if you will how fast the phone lights up when a company of about 60,000 employees can no longer get to any of the information they need.

Not a pretty site.

 

And you wondered why I was still here.

I am the scary part where it could crash any minute if i am wrong about the cuase.

 

When you have just finished writing up a script for T2 and then you find that T2 will no longer run so you re-install T2 in another directory with no scripts, add in your script and runs fine, then add in PJ's scripts and the thing crashes, and then you upgrade PJ's scripts and it works fine...rinse, re-use, repeat

 

Mani was playing HoF? That's like me playing LD, or Capper, or anything that involves that damn light armor!!
