  1. Well, one would hope that the people counting the votes would always be card carrying centrists who don't belong to any party, and thus have much less reason to drive up the votes either way.
There isn't any reason that a direct democracy couldn't have a system in place to keep people from running just because they feel like it. You can't just jump on the ballot for fun now, abolishing the electorate wouldn't change that. Besides, right now you practically have the illusion of a majority rather then a real one, barely any serious issue can be distilled down to two sides and quite a few people these days don't vote because they like a canidate, they vote because they don't like the other guy more. It would be alot nicer if everyone didn't have to be either a liberal or conservative, but could both form and hold there own opinions without anyone who disagrees with them hurling a label at them likes its a insult.
Ohnoes, we can't just tell everyone there vote matters, now we have to actually count them!!!!11one
I find it funny that it goes from "What, you actually want us to COUNT the absentee ballots" to "Citizens left out."

And a good devils advocate is always a good thing, if you can't defend your opinion, you probably need to go back and try and figure out why you have it in the first place.

  2. That's the best thing I've read all day!
