I watch movies and play games at work. This job I have is an absolute cakewalk. Friggin love it. I just wish the Nazimins wouldn't keep such a careful log of the Internet, else I'd probably play WoW at work too. They cut out the Internet, (not really, the management said that usage of the Internet at work for non-work reasons...blah blah blah....) so I brought in a few games (UNO Attack, Axis and Allies, etc). If there is no work we're just sitting on our asses anyway. My boss friggin loves it.

  7. I just watched Serenity last night... loved the series and was quite upset that they screwed it up. Great movie =D

  8. I'm a big fan as well, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it, but you won't really understand the movie unless you watch the series first. The plotline that binds the Serenity to Firefly is similar to what SciFi has done for something else.

2 years ago the series, Farscape, ended... but due to a miscalculation on the part of the editors, the storyline didn't. Questions were left unanswered. So, the studio created Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars; a movie that was set a couple of months after the timeline of the series ended to close the circle that had been opened.

Television networks are usually more interested in the money, and don't really care about the shows that they are showing.

With Serenity it is the same thing. So the author, Joss Whedon, made a movie based on the series -- in a timeline that was, supposedly, set 8 months after the Firefly storyline, Objects in Space (the final episode) ended. This picks up the core-story that began in the pilot; why River Tam is really being hunted by the government.

As for the rest, you'll have to watch the series and movie to find out :)

    "Yeah!!"

    "Well, well....you can't!"

    I like this one:

Kaylee Frye: Goin' on a year now I ain't had nothin' twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries!
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Oh, God! I can't *know* that!
Jayne Cobb: I could stand to hear a little more.

    And

Zoƫ: How much ammo we got left?
Jayne Cobb: Three full mags, and my swinging cod!

My fav show since it was on (lucky enough to watch it on TV when it was on)...got the series, got the movie...go get both now!

And of course the shirts: Joss is my master now

Just watched it, it was pretty good ;)

  12. one of my favorite exchanges from the TV series, when they're talking about River.

Wash: Psychic? Sounds like something out of science fiction.
Zoƫ: We live on a spaceship, dear.
    Wash: So?

  13. sitting down with the wife to watch the Firefly series now before we hit the New Years Parties:
    Serenity
    The Train Job
    Bushwhacked

  14. Awesome...if you liked the movie I plead with you to rent the DVDs. I can't believe how good this series is. I barely remember seeing ads for it squashed between football games on Fox years ago. Someone has to bring this series back.

I can't wait till Netflix drops off the rest of the DVDs.

  15. yes, the entire series (short as it was) is just fantastic - it you liked the movie, you'll really appreciate the shows as the character development is far more detailed and you really get to connect and understand them - making the movie all that more enjoyable. Truely sad this one got canceled - Firefly could have gone on for a good run as a series had the stupid network exec's not given it the axe. Makes me wonder if they have a bunch of chimps somedays randomly deciding what shows stay and what shows go  as Firefly was an obvious keeper.

The execs are more interested in squeezing in as many commercials as they can per show. Like new years last night, I thought I was gonna miss the damn countdown because they were showing so many MFING COMMERCIALS.

 Anyway - Will have to pick up the series box set.

Sci-Fi is picking up the series. Watching the movie now with my wife and she's enjoying it! What's great about the movie is that even those who never saw Firefly can still understand the movie and most of the sub-plots.

  18. Sci-Fi is picking up the series as in new episodes or just replaying the old ones? I know the Sci-Fi channel replayed the Firefly series right before the movie was released in September.

I couldn't wait for Netflix. On Sunday I went and purchased the Firefly Box set - 40.99 at Best Buy (the website has it on sale for 32.99) and I picked up Serenity 19.99. It helped that I got a 50 gift certificate for Christmas. :)

My wife and I watched episodes 4-10 on Sunday night and finished up 11-14 last night and re-watched Serenity (well I watched Serenity I think my wife was all tuckered out from watching all of those episodes.)

    Awesome stuff.

My bad. It doesn't look promising for another Firefly series.
