Teaser of the Constellation Variants

I had no plans to get the luxury version, but it seems to have the most going for it right now. Grabbed one since they appear to be limited. Not going to apply it until I am sure I want it though.

 

I thought about it, but they can be acquired in game so I felt I would wait if I wanted one, besides I needed a dedicated explorer ship.

 

the connie does not need a military variant. over 40 missiles, how many turrets and a close support craft and air superiority and not military enough? hell, the phoenix has a class 9 point defense system, class 7 engines, and some more upgrades? what is not military about this shit?

 

Yeah I love all the the Phx has, but rather have storage space internally than the penthouse but it does look nice so it may be my party boat.

 

I think if people are truly interested in a military ship, they should wait until CIG promotes the Javelin - you can bet your life they will for outfits who've bought more than a few Hornets (such as us )

 

So there was a typo and the Phoenix has been brought down to the TR5 engines all connies are maxed out at. Still nice to have the point defense and the larger capacitor though.

 

The Phoenix will make a good command ship. The smaller cargo hold could be offset by being able to transport illegal goods worth more with the cargo scanning protection.

 

I ended up picking one up, but I am going to equip it out with all the explorer gear. Cargo space is meh for me since I am sitting on the current second largest hauler in the game atm.

 

Constellations aren't the kind of ships that allow for cockpit decorations; that said, if I want a Phoenix I think I'll wait until after the game launches fully, or when I plan to upgrade my package (with the Aquila-variant) to the Fleet Pack, which includes one in it as the alternate.

 

CIG Support have gotten back to me about a query - though not mentioned in the brochures, if you purchase the Aquila upgrade you get the URSA rover, but also keep the Merlin snub fighter.

That might be something to think about since I will be purchasing the upgrade, but several amongst us pre-ordered the standard configuration. After all, I doubt we will only have one research ship.
