I think Queen went to the other side of the Hill and found the foutian of youth.

Now all we need to do is get her to share with the rest of us.

  3. Greetings,

Just because some of us have gray hairs doesnt mean were done yet...I can still chase down flag runners with my EMP walker and engage Heavies with my Phalanxx Gertiol....Then I could engage the lights with my Rocket Grecian Formula. And my Social Security Inventory Stations are always at the ready

    Farewell

I remember you well WinterKnight. My vengence shall come to you sooner or later. You will one day feel me wrath on the battlefield. The coldest nights beware... the inferno is coming.

:dane: you must not have played against me in T1. I got past Winterknight a lot more than you think. Usually in Broadside he would sit near the back of the bottom entrance with his axe and sheild pack.

I would usually let someone to go first, cannon fodder, to lure him out of his hole and when he would go to kill them I would blast his ass. Or, if I wanted to take him away from his position, I would go through the top and rape his gens and then go through the base smashing all the INV's and leaving mines everywhere. So he would have to switch defensive positions to stop me but when he switched I would simply go through the front again.

Unless he had some good D people helping him he could never keep up with me in broadside. You see I didn't play for the kills. I played like I always play... TO WIN. If I get 15 kills but I keep your gens down the entire game and my team rapes the crap out of you.. I'm happy.

I knew some tricks in T1 for IX that made me unstoppable. Like Rollercoaster trick. You get a heavy with a booster and you boost and sky a certain paths, one for each side of the map, and before you get to the enemies base you boost like mad, up the second to last hill, or last hill for the other side. That way you are really high in the air and when you start falling you will literally be falling right on top of their base. Since you are plumiting straight down taking out both solar panels is simple and you can hit them both before you land. Not only that but Avengers and the flak will completly miss you the whole time due to your speed. (Tribes had a little physics to it)

BAM! You hit down on their base and their powers down.. pop a few motors maybe a few grenades inside to smash the INV's and it is on to their flak.

Yeah I don't get many kills, on other people, doing that but I destroy the D. No D + no power = big problem.

Then the rest of the team has a field day at your base. Trust me I know this works... and so does CoDx :p

You must not have played much against me, becuase you just described how I have always played tribes. The only diffrence is that I didn't need a booster.

All i used was a Heat Sink and i raped plenty of gens.

You have no fuckin idea what I said do you :dane: ? You can NOT do that attack with a heatsink.. you would end up coming right at them and Queen would rocket your ass back to the moon. My attack has me dive DOWN at their base... NOT across it. Your ass would be emped and dead long before you made it to their base.

    As for Gayzer :finger:

I'm sure CDL will eventually move on to a better game and when they do. I'm gonna beat your candy ass and leave you in a anti ghey bar.

  12. Greetings,

Thank you ThroneBeast. It was a pleasure always to defend with you. You were one of the best Heavy/Vengance Defenders to be seen. I remember many of times on raindance when we would cover the hill and stop incoming flag runners. If I failed to intercept them you were always there to back me up and accomplish the goal of defending.

Great Dane describes his assaults on Raindance and Rollercoaster maps to name a few where he was one of the prime heavy assualt players of T1 IX. He was hard to intercept and always was a challenge when on the other team. There were many others that were as well. I had to learn new tactics all of the time to adept to the new offenive that always developed within IX. Great Dane knew routes how to get himself over without the booster and make a true meance to defenders.

MTX you describe ways you did get me in Broadside. I tried my hardest always to do the best I could defending. I knew when the front door was quiet for too long that the roof was under heavy siege. The tasks of stopping light infiltrators with Shieldpacks and shotguns took many hours of practive on my part to adept to these new techniques. Stoping heavies was very hard as well. You are correct saying that when a Heavy assuault was on the way you had to be prepared. Turrets and Sentries would not do the job..It had to be warrior to warrior interception on all fronts.

There were many times when I had the pleasue to play with Manitou where he helped me out greatly. His loadout of Phalanxx/Shotgun/Rocket/Shield was great. He assisted me greatly many of times in defending of interior bases. There are many others as well that should be mentioned.

I learned a long time ago from 3 great tutors that a great defense is great. But also to remember if you were on offense how would you take out that defense. TC Yosho, FOG Wraith and Danor33 taught me very well. Keeping this in mind I tried always to provide a good defense so when on the public servers when I had strong members on my team they could do thier favorite role that they decided that they wanted to do..Flag Runner,Heavy Offense, Flag Escort and the other many roles that IX offered.

Many clan matches showed new and innovative ways of defending. Turret,Sentry, and Avenger placements were great. But when a Clan Match came down....You didnt have time to place them exactly like you did in practice...They just had to get up. I never did a fancy defense. Just the quickest I could do and try to keep the Base secure always. That was the great thing about 9.C. With points awarded by deployers of defensive systems Offensive players now tried defense and it made them better all around players. I chose to always be a defenseman always. I tried to do offense from time to time,at best I was mediocre. I was beaten many of times. Many Flags were taken away from me and capped. As long as that I remembered that I tried my hardest to stop that from happening I knew I did the best I could. The members of CDL and other members that post here are great veterans of IX. Now new and innovative ways and strategies have come with T2. New defenders will make thier mark and be remembered. But the warriors of T1 IX will not be forgotten. For 2 and 1/2 years they faught a contstant battle. When all said and done the warriors that belonged to Insomniax and the few that still do can hold their head proud and high.

    Farewell...

.. we need a T1 LAN party where all the old IX guys can get together and duke it out. We could call it "The Last Stand" and celebrate the good old days.

Yeah I have a hard time letting go. It was the most fun I've ever had in an online game and now it is over. I guess that's why I recent T2. Took away all my buddies.. :(

Winter, I sure do miss fighting along side of you. I remember how you used to adjust your play to fascilitate other player's roles on your team. You were the nicest player out there, always.

I learned a lot from you.

Good to see you talking on this board a little more lately.

I agree that Dane with a heatsink was a very bad thing for my base. He focused on weakening the base.

mtx did used to get everyone riled up in tribes with his talk. :/ But as torturous as it was for the rest of us, I think it was his way of unwinding.

I don't recall duck of death every getting out of hand at a match, but I didn't get to play many matches with him. He was Crazy Cow's dad and he took me under his wing (hehehe) when I was in RA. He was funny, down to earth and encouraging.

And even though I never got to play when Fozzie/Brakums was active, he's always worn the RA tag and I will always adore him. He's a good person.

Last I check Fozz is not in RA.

People are less efficient when angery. Psychology always played a big role in tribes for me. VMP people for a map or two and they will do anything to kill you. They don't wait for that perfect shot they just shoot as fast as they can. Exploiting the weaknesses of others. Isn't that what it is all about?

At least I don't EMP people.. QUEEN!!! Winterknight!!!!

I remember one time I was playing that night time version of rollercoaster and I was EMPing Manitou...over and over and over. It was so funny. I think he liked it. :)

I'll admit that I did use the booster on a few maps. B-sides, Rollercoaster2 (That's the night map your all thinking of), Scaraber, and one side of Ice Ridge.

I had a hard time getting past a few people on D in IX. Especially Winter, Queen, and Cyclops (I miss that dude. he was my first tribes buddy :().

I always thought that Queen was out to get me. I always figured she took some special joy in killing me. Every time I attacked the base there was Queen killing me. If I changed my route she just moved over and killed me in my new spot.
