The price isn't bad. If you have the space for them I guess you might as well fill it up.

Personaly, I wouldn't recomend Seagate. The store I worked at had stacks of them to RMA and a stack of returns. Western Digital drives never seem to break, and everything else had a few every now and again.

Darn, now you got me thinking ;)

  5. /me smacks mani

shush you..it can't be helped and i can't explain it

  6. I've never been a fan of Seagate either... I've personally had way too many issues with them. I once ordered 80 hard drives from them for a client of mine, sad thing is, 30 or so drives failed.

So, I think now I don't know which way to go. I think I will go with the good reliability I've had with Western Digital

Seagate used to make Awesome SCSI drives, haven't used them in IDE mode. IBM makes a good solid drive and WD isn't bad either.

Yes, I am making DVD's with my stuff. Have made a few.

If your going to do any kind of video editing, you need to look at something like Sonic Foundry's Vegas 4. This software rocks. I made a commercial for our Tae Kwon Do class to be played this weekend at the mall as they do demo's and stuff. Still tweaking it, probably have it done tonight. I also use Studio 8 from Pinnacle, it is actually pretty nice (for the cost). It can do some cool stuff (like slow motion, fast motion and if you mess with it, you can slow down sections of your video and stuff)

If you want to see a couple of tests that I did let me know, I can post a link to them.

Otto does some real slick stuff. Did a touching tribute to a young boy who was in his karate class that died. The parents played it at the boy's funeral... very nice.

  9. i've been asked to make dvds out of some old tapes. 'splain me how i would go about doing that.

  10. too late .. ordered it last night

Warchile, you will need some way to pull it in (firewire, ATI All-in-wonder card, Haupauge card or something similar) then get something simple like studio 8 ($50 I believe) it will do what you want. Then down the road you can bump it up for better software.

The applications are really pretty easy to use.
