Yep... it is like Age of empire... not as good as starcraft but will cure my rts withdraws

 

You should get Empire Earth. That's the best RTS I have played to date. A bunch of us here have it and we play about once a week or so.

 

RA is now officially a social clan.

Unlike most, im loving T2 more and more each time I play it. Maybe its the system and the uber ping I play on.

Hoping that would solve any UE problems...expected incredible game play again.
Well, great game play again...but UE within 2 mins of playing....

I don't even know what the hell an unhandled exception means....if I knew what it was...maybe I could fix it

I just don't get it....one month I'm running like a champ.....
The next thing I know....nothin' works....UE's and game freezing...

 

Much Sadness here can anyone help this poor old warhound out. I tryed for a few hours lastnight but he ended up leaving RW crying like a little girl.

Well.

Strictly speaking there is nothing you can do about an unhandled exception b/c it is internal to the program.

An unhandled exception is when something goes wrong in the program, and the programmers were too lazy to handle it properly using an error handler so the program just takes a shit and crashes.

It would be like trying to devide by zero. The computer would crap out. Now a decent program would trap this error, "handle" it in a nice way, so that the program doesn't crash. But error handlers add a little extra time to programs and Dynamix obviously didn't give a shit.

So.....

The thing you can do is try to minimize the UEs your computer runs into by using configuration that T2 can deal with.....

How you do this, I don't really know. But most people seem to be ok.

Couple recommendations:

Make sure all your drivers are the latest and greatest.

Update windows with all the possible upgrades you can find.

Minimize the shit that boots up on startup.

Once you have everything done, then install T2. T2 tends to take a giant crap if you change hardware. So its best to install it fresh. Uninstall T2. Delete the directories if they still exist. If you are comfortable doing it, go through the registry and see if you can find any extra crap from Dynamix, or Sierra, or Tribes 2 and get rid of it.

Try installying T2 to a different directory than the default. This sometimes makes the program refresh settings that it has hidden somewhere where you cant find them

Finally: I believe Garage Games has released a beta for the up coming patch to T2. You could always try that. I mean, if it doesn't work now, testing the patch isn't going to make it worse.


So check your device manager, make sure everything is known and has the latest driver running, update windows. Make sure you have the latest directx. The reinstall T2 to a different directory.

If that doesn't work, try the beta patch.

 

That Beta Sucks ass its got some crazy ass jittering due to the 1000 check sums it continually does. Os tryed this new patch and it still crashed his T2. I thold him I think its his video card + hes using a Celeron 800mhz, his vidoe card is a Radeon 7000 or 700 something.........

He has reinstall it!

He has Deleted all his Dso files!

He has tryed the red cross patch thingy!

He has Win ME which IMO is whats another issue causing his UE's!

So yes Rayz it might be the program and also the fact that it doenst like his setup.

To be honest if Sierra made a patch that ddint UE on his PC I truely believe that T2 would be compatible with anyones PC.

BTW he has also UE just sitting in T2 IRC.

So theres some addressing there thats going wack the only thing I could think to possible tell hiom is to hit the ~ and watch what it says and when the UE occurs and post it in Sierras community.

First, I said, Reinstall it to a DIFFERENT Directory.

Second, Win ME sucks ass.

Third, are you having any other trouble with your computer? Bad memory is a very common problem these days. If you bought memory for your new system and you got shitty memory (RAM) that could do all kinds of bad things to you. Its a bad idea to use different manufactures for your memory if you are using 2 sticks. To be safe, put in 2 sticks from the same company, same size. Yeah it sounds stupid and you shouldn't have to worry about it, but in reality life sucks and memory often causes problems.

When I was rebuilding my computer I also UEed in T2 IRC. But after I was done cleaning up my computer and fully reinstalled everything worked fine. I still UE, but not all that often, no more than everybody else I would expect.

try the ram bit.......when i upgraded one stick of my ram would ue t2. also, try diff versions of the ati drivers. i had to go back to my last ver because i was gettin weird skinning artifacts.
